鉬鈣礦與白鎢礦－SCHEELITE晶形類似，同為 (pseudo-octahedral) ，紫外線燈下的螢光同為金黃色，但不若白鎢礦耀眼，依此可為簡單區別．硬度3.5 - 4. 油脂至金剛光澤，常見黃，棕，白，藍的色彩．由硫化鉬礦經熱水作用產生．常作為白鎢礦的假相∼pseudomorph．常見與 quartz, zeolites, molybdenite and lindgrenite共生.
